This November a team of 12 from the states of Oregon and Washington traveled to Kenya. This team was mostly made up of musicians and their spouses from one of the worship teams from Evangel Christian Fellowship, Longview, Washington. This was one of the main churches on the West Coast that had so graciously opened their hearts to Pastor Julius Mbagaya when he was here in June and July. A lot of equipment was taken into Kenya for the concerts the musicians gave and also to give as gifts to the people. Other gifts included medical supplies, chain saws, money for a 4x4 truck, and various small, personal items. During this same time period, Jane, the secretary of the Board of Global Outreach Services, Inc. also traveled to Kenya. Her trip was spent almost entirely with Pastor John Lodinyo and his Pokot tribe. It is this people group that we are pursuing water wells and trying to raise enough money to have them drilled. Jane went and lived among the Pokot under what we would consider very primitive conditions. She ministered both in music and teaching. Jane gained the respect of the Pokot people and the church leaders where she was. Because her visit was an historic event, a road was named after Jane using her Pokot name of “Kogo”. 01/2000 |
