Financial Assistance

The same strategy is utilized with providing financial support. Because we maintain a team focus, we only consider ministries functioning with a teamwork structure. When there’s alignment of vision we are enabled to support their projects. In this way any donated gifts from Global Outreach Services, Inc. are disbursed through the local leadership ministry. And if specific pastors are supported individually, there is oversight and accountability on the local level.

Financial Assistance through Industry

When working in developing nations, it is common to have a poor economy, unemployment of over 70%, and a “hand-out” mentality. We at Global Outreach Services, Inc. are endeavoring to change this while working within the framework of local church ministries.

The concept of linking hand-made products with shoppers around the world through internet sales is the newest phase of Global Outreach Services, Inc. This method of promoting industry and financial assistance is one we are excited about and are still developing. Check out the Global Shopping page often as we will constantly be adding new product from different countries as it becomes available.

The financial income generated by producing these goods for sale not only benefits the individual on a family level, but provides resources for the church as well. Besides economic benefits, there is also the emotional aspect of developing self-esteem and building self-worth. Thus, breaking the hand-out mentality and creating financial independence rather than dependence.

Projects undertaken that compliment our main focus:

A Bedford 4-wheel drive, expedition heavy duty truck – converted with seats, canvas tarp covering, lockers, electricity and ability to haul food or water necessary for a team of people was donated. Funds are constantly needed for operation and maintenance for this and other vehicles.

Acoustic guitars and over 40 harmonicas have been donated to people in Kenya. These are used during praise and worship in areas where electricity is not available. Other key boards, sound equipment, mixing boards, amps, microphones, speakers, etc. have been donated not only for the purpose of praise and worship but for recording CD’s for re-sale. A second advantage to these gifts is this equipment has become step one of a two-step vision toward a radio station that will broadcast messages in tribal languages.

Bicycles are a practical gift. Some overseers walk miles between churches and pastors they are responsible to watch over. This helps ease their burden. A second value to a bicycle is that it can be a source of income if it is hired out as a taxi. People pay to sit on the back and the owner takes them to their destination for a fee.

Water Wells are a need that cannot be denied and a promise that must be fulfilled. In ministering and supporting the work among the Pokot in the interior of Kenya, their desperate need for water overwhelmed us. Women walk 15 miles one way to get water to try and survive on. Often their children die before they return or the older women don’t make it. Due to the continued drought, many of the rivers have dried up making water even more scarce. What river water is available is questionable to drink. We have had two surveys completed to date, but are presently at a stand still.

We have encountered both cultural politics and lack of an available well-drilling agency, yet we remain committed to proceeding with having wells drilled. This area is extremely remote and the hardship is great. Please join us in prayer over this situation.

Famine Relief has also been sent several times into the remote interior section of Kenya known as Pokot. Following is a letter excerpt from a Christian church leader in Kapenguria regarding one of those times:

Gifts of clothing are taken on every trip made to Africa; medical supplies have been provided while coinciding with special events, thus drawing people who might not come just to hear a preacher; chain saws have been utilized both for building projects and in tree forestry for income; school supplies have been provided for four different schools; and office equipment and computers have been donated to assist the administrative aspect of ministry and communication, and are also used in Bible schools.
